Breeders Cup

Aiden O'Brien has dominated the European two year old races and all Group 1's in general throughout the year. Following Hydrangea landing the Champion Fillies and Mares stakes at Ascot on Champions day he also drew level with the late Bobby Frankel. This record is of the most Group 1 victories in a year which now stands level at a staggering 25 a pair.

The 2017 edition of the Breeders Cup is set to take place at Del Mar race course with prize money now at a high of $28 million as many of the top horses from around the world descend to the US. One of the key European contender's if heading over will be another of the Aiden O'Brien team in US Navy Flag. The two year old has had a busy campaign with 10 runs and has won on four of them. This has included winning on his last three starts.

US Navy Flag went into the Darley Dewhurst Stakes as the clear 5/1 second favourite behind the strong 4/7 favourite in Expert Eye. However Expert Eye flopped finishing tailed last and US Navy Flag made all to win comfortably as O'Brien showed his dominance over the two year old division with the first four home.

US Navy flag is the current 3/1 favourite for the race with Paddy Power as there is continued uncertainty as to where he will be travelling over. The challengers for the race are expected to be from fellow European challengers in Roaring Lion, Seahenge and James Garfield. Check out the infographic below that covers all you need to know about the Breeders Cup and the key contenders from the US and Europe.
